The List of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom is a list of sites designated by the UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom. The UNESCO list contains seventeen designated properties in England (one joint with Germany), four in Scotland, two in Wales, one in Northern Ireland and three in British overseas territories. Some designated properties contain multiple sites that share a common geographical location or cultural heritage. Twenty-two properties are designated as cultural, one as mixed and four as natural sites.
   The listed properties are designated cultural sites unless noted, and are ordered by date of inscription. All years of first and subsequent designations are given.

England

Scotland

  • 1986, 2004, 2005: St. Kilda
    • Originally designated natural, extended to mixed in 2004

  • 1999: Heart of Neolithic Orkney

    Prospective

    In 2006, the following were picked for the UK's 2009 WHS bids:
  • Wearmouth-Jarrow Monastery (External Link)
  • Antonine Wall (External Link)
  • Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (External Link) Down House had also been nominated and, though it was removed from the 2006 list on internal advice from ICOMOS(External Link), it has been confirmed that it would be resubmitted in 2009.(External Link)

    The following sites are on the second UK "Tentative list" of sites, produced in 1999; being on this list is a prerequisite for nomination as a World Heritage Site.:
